Magpie
Jan 23, 2021
To capture a moment in time.
I watch nature’s motions from afar,
steal a piece and make its image mine,
and line my nest with each jewel.
To become a magpie;
the purest of aesthetes.
Always searching,
for the glint and shine of potential,
of beauty, delight or solace.
Every landscape is a treasure trove.
Full of potential golden finds of light, views;
of a perfect choreography of Earth.
It is lucky to behold so much promise.
But too a burden.
To know the greatest sight may always elude;
waiting just over that next hill, in that next glade.
It is within reach,
but always just beyond.
